Rock Art

This creation of rocks and wood and blue material is the inspiration behind Rock Art post today. It is an Ovoo after the mongolian tradition where it is custom to stop and circle an ovoo three times in clockwise direction, in order to have a safe journey. A rock may be are picked up from nearby and added to the pile.

Many cultures create sculptures with rocks. Here is a Cairn in Switzerland which marks the top of a mountain. A cairn or an ovoo or a taloo is basically a man-made pile of stones. They are made for a variety of reasons including marking places, worship of nature.

Call it what you will we are going to have a go at creating our own rock sculpture.
